BERENICE
ISABEL FERRARI GOELZER, born
in Porto Alegre, Brazil, on 1 January 1940; Civil
Engineer by the Federal University of RGS (Brazil), Master in Public Health and
Industrial Hygiene by the University of Michigan (Ann Arbor, USA),
certified as CIH (Comprehensive Practice) by the American Board of Industrial
Hygiene, USA (since 1974), and by the Brazilian Association of Occupational Hygienists
– ABHO (in 2003).
Main
positions (from 1964): professor at the University of RGS (Brazil),
1964-1969; responsible for Occupational Hygiene at SESI-RGS (Brazil); Chief of
Occupational Hygiene at FUNDACENTRO (Brazilian National Foundation for
Occupational Safety and Health), São Paulo, and
visiting professor at the School of Public Health of the University of São Paulo, Brazil (1970-1972); researcher at the University
of North Carolina, 1973-1974 (Chapel Hill, USA); Scientist, responsible for
Occupational Hygiene at the international level, in the World Health
Organization, Geneva (for 25 years; 1974-2000).
Presently: occupational hygiene
consultant; editor of the Newsletter of the International Occupational Hygiene
Association (IOHA).
